As a teacher, teacher educator, nonprofit leader, entrepreneur and community volunteer, Ayanna has worked with a diverse group of people to acquire the knowledge and develop habits and mindsets needed to achieve their greatest potential. Ayanna is skilled in consulting, coaching, strategic thinking, program design, and program implementation. Ayanna’s background includes roles in K-12, higher education, corporate, non-profit, and entrepreneurial settings.
At the core of her work are two questions:
1. How can we build institutions that add value to people's lives?
2. How do we empower the people in those institutions to reach their highest potential, personally and professionally?
With over 10 years of experience supporting students through college access and career planning, Edaine specialize in creating inclusive, individualized pathways to postsecondary success. She believes every student, regardless of background or circumstance, deserves the opportunity to thrive after high school.
Most recently serving as a College Counselor and Curriculum Planner at North Star Academy, she worked closely with students, families, and staff to guide each student through the college admissions and financial aid process. Edaine's approach blends culturally responsive counseling, social-emotional learning, and a deep knowledge of higher education systems. She's visited more than 200 college campuses and built strong relationships with admissions professionals across the country, giving my students a unique, informed perspective as they navigate the application journey.
In addition to her work with students, Edaine also supports talent recruitment and educator development, helping to attract high-performing teachers. This work reflects her broader commitment to educational equity not only in the classroom, but at the systems level.
She holds a Master’s in Higher Education from Caldwell University and earned recognition for her leadership in access and equity, including the Marian Wright Edelman Award and a fellowship with Leadership Newark.
